Creative Movement Has Begun!
Every year for the month of December, Mrs. Fraser and I combine our programs to teach Creative Movement. Both the Physical Education and Music curriculums include dance components and movement through expression. Students from kindergarten to grade 4 will be participating in a variety of cultural songs and dance from around the world.
One of our favourite ways to warm up is the freeze dance. You can try this at home... put on some of your favourite tunes and stop the music from time to time. Have your child stop the music too, it's a great way to get out some of that energy this time of year!
Some of the songs on our playlist currently include:
Uptown Funk - clean edit for radio
Better When I'm Dancing - Meghan Trainer
Sasha - folk dance from Ukraine
Seven Jumps - folk dance from Denmark
Bhangra Empire - Bollywood
Watch Me - Zumbini kids
Waka Waka - Shakira
I Saw Three Ships - Lindsay Sterling
Bamboo - Shakira
From December 18 - 21 we will have Winter Celebration Week. During this time, every class will perform one of their dances during an assembly. More information to come soon.
** Parents... this year, we will also be adding parent dances to our assembly performances. Practice videos to come soon! **
