Building Rhythms

We have been introducing and reviewing some of our basic notation of ta (quarter note), ti-ti (eighth notes), and rests (quarter rests).

Understanding the sounds and patterns in music is an important element in developing our skills. As we build rhythm around words, we have also learned about melody, harmony, and phrasing.

Grade 1 and 2 will continue to work on this skill as a whole group and in partners for the upcoming weeks with our cat and pumpkin patterns.

Grade 3 and 4 will continue to notate our rhythm patterns in partners and transition to completing this independently.

Another very important part of this learning has involved Ear Training or our ability to LISTEN carefully to the sounds and patterns that we hear in music.
